The Susan Gassett Green Room
We recently dedicated our renovated headquarters to honor our our Company Founder, Susan Gasett! Our space is now named "The Susan Gassett Green Room." The most widely accepted origin of the term green room dates back to Shakespearean theatre. Actors would prepare for their performances in a room filled with plants and shrubs. It was believed that the moisture in the topiary was beneficial to the Actors' voices.
For this event we turned to two local, South End businesses: Boston Sign Company created the lovely and stylish dedication plaque. Giorgiana's priovided the amazing food and drink for our tea-time celebration.
Stage Door Opens
The "Stage Door" program of Boston’s City Stage Co., one of the groups of artists housed by the BCA, also performed. They got the crowd moving with "Visions of Sugarplums," an interactive retelling of the Nutcracker story. The South End News
The 5 young actors in our new Stage Door Program began performances of the holiday show Visions of Sugar Plums, which we are performing for free at gatherings throughout our neighborhood. Visions of Sugar Plums is a 15 minute participatory play based on the Nutcracker story. In this play, Clara is given a toy Nutcracker that comes to life to defend the house from the Mouse King and his army.

Teen Stages says "bon jour"
Our Teen Stages program recently got together with young people from Déclic Théâtre from France, who were visiting Boston as part of an International Exchange by the Cloud Foundation In 2007, City Stage Co. was chosen for the 2007 Paris Exchange trip.
The two groups renewed friendships, shared a improvisation workshop, played board games and attended performances of Shear Madness and Blue Man Group (City Stage's Chandra Pieragostini arranged for the generous donation of tickets for both performances.)
City Stage Co. is an award winning theater that provides opportunities for urban children and families to participate in the performing arts so they can make discoveries about themselves and the world.
